THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER
Luke 24, 13-35 ![]()
In this Sunday’s gospel, two of Jesus’ disciples are traveling to a place called Emmaus. On their way, the two disciples were talking about the passion of Christ and the tragedy that had occurred when a stranger suddenly appeared acting as if not to know what had happened. The two disciples were very nice to the stranger and invited the stranger to stay and eat dinner with them. The two disciples didn’t know that the stranger was Jesus until he was at the table with them and “took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them.” Suddenly their eyes were opened and they saw Jesus and at that moment, He left them.
This Sunday’s gospel tells us that at any time, Jesus can come into our lives. We will not always know who he is at first, so that means that we just have to be nice and friendly to everyone. When people make us mad or sad, we have to be nice to them because Jesus wants us to be nice to everyone. We have to always be prepared for the coming of Jesus Christ. Another message in this Sunday’s gospel is when Jesus made himself recognizable to the disciples. He did this when he repeated the blessing of the bread and gave it to them. The Eucharist is one of the best ways for us to be close to Christ. Jesus wants us to receive him so He can live in us and we can act out in his way. If we ever miss Jesus or want to be close to him, we can go to church with him and share in his supper. by Hồng Ân Chúa |
