FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER
John 10, 1-10
This Sunday, in the gospel, Jesus tells preaches a teaching that the Pharisees do not understand, so he has to tell it to them in a different way. Let’s break down what Jesus said by phrases.

“I am the gate for the sheep” means that Jesus is the way and we are the sheep. Jesus calls us sheep because sheep are easy to follow anyone- good and bad. We can either follow him, or follow thieves and robbers. Just like sheep, we are easily led into temptation, but Jesus came to earth to give us the chance to follow Him. Jesus is the way and his way leads us to salvation. And Jesus says whoever enters through him “will be saved.” Jesus calls himself the gate because He is an opening, a passageway, an entrance to heaven or to eternal life. There is only one Jesus so there is only one way to enter heaven. Robbers and thieves try to enter heaven by sneaking in or finding a tricky way to enter, but they will be unsuccessful. There is only one way to heaven and Jesus cannot be tricked. We have to live our lives on earth in a good way because Jesus knows everything and will not be fooled. He knows who loves Him and follows Him and will allow those people to enter into His Father’s kingdom of heaven.
