FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER
John 14, 1-12 ![]()
“I am the way and the truth and the life.”
Last week we reflected on how Jesus is the way and the gate to the kingdom of heaven, but this week, he also tells us he is the truth and the life. If we think about what people say or what we say, it can only be two things: true or false. Jesus says he is the truth and only truth. There is no false in truth, there is no darkness in light, and there is no death in life. Jesus is only good things: truth, light, and life. In order to fully follow Him like he wants us to, we should do only good things. If we do something and wonder was what I did a sin? Even though… or what if….? We have to ask ourselves, were our actions truly good and only good? Was what we said completely true with no falseness or lie involved? Only good actions make Jesus happy, not the actions that are good for the most part, our actions are to be 100% morally right. Also in this Sunday’s gospel, the disciples ask Jesus about God the Father. Jesus explains that “if you know me, then you will also know my Father. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” To know Jesus is to know God because everything Jesus does is good and just how His Father wants Him to do. We have to understand that Jesus is the life because while we are still alive, we must do our best to follow him so that when we physically die, we can have eternal life with God the Father. The only way our souls can live forever is with the help and guidance of Jesus. Jesus is more than willing to come into our lives and support and assist us, we just have to open our hearts and welcome Him. by Hồng Ân Chúa |
